Oyster Reef Golf Course, is a Semi-Private, 18 hole golf course located in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
Oyster Reef Golf Club opened in 1982 and was immediately recognized as one of the top 25 new courses in America. The course was designed by Rees Jones. Oyster Reef Golf Course has been voted one of the top 20 courses in the Carolinas and enjoys a reputation as a favorite among Hilton Head Island golfers.
Carved out of 190 acres of breathtaking low country terrain, Oyster Reef Golf Course's spectacular 18-hole championship course is surrounded by winding lagoons, lush vegetation, and scenic views of the Island.
Oyster Reef is home to one of the most spectacular holes on the entire island, Hole #6, a par-3, which plays 192 yards from the championship tees to a green that is set against the backdrop of the beautiful Port Royal Sound.
Oyster Reef Golf Course challenges you with 66 bunkers, which are well placed off the elevated tees and guard undulating 2 and 3-tiered greens. Numerous dogleg fairways, accented by strategically located mounds and fairway bunkers, call for well-planned tee shots.
Golf course architect Rees Jones used the natural landscape to create an inspiring course that combines challenge with a sense of fair play. Ranging from 7,014 yards from the championship tees to 5,288 yards from the forward tees, this par 72 course rewards and tests golfers of all skill level.
Gold tees: par-72, 7,014 yards, 74.7 / 137
Blue tees: par-72, 6,440 yards, 72.2 / 124
White tees: par-72, 6,071 yards, 70.5 / 119
Green tees: par-72, 5,288 yards, 71.1 / 120

I love this couse. It has a great layout and the distances are well marked. Moves well and the rangers are around on a regular basis. I make sure I play it twice a year at least on my vacatin time share.

Oyster Reef is one of the 7 courses run by the Heritage Group on Hilton Head Island-the others are Port Royal (3), Shipyard and Palmetto Hall (2). But this is about Oyster Reef. Even though they had punched the greens a week before I was there, the greens came back with a vengenance. They were smooth rolling and accurate (no bumps)and fast. The course itself is a fabulous Rees Jones design and took you through beautiful tree lined holes with lots of water and strategic bunkering. One of the best courses I have played.
